Ohio runs the region — and it isn't close
Ohio holds 17 facilities and 281 courts, more courts than Indiana and Illinois combined (114 and 117). The Cincinnati metro alone accounts for three Pickle Lodge locations totaling 51 courts, plus Sawyer Point's 24 outdoor courts downtown.
| State | Facilities | Courts |

| Ohio | 17 | 281 |

The biggest rooms in the Midwest
- Match Point Pickleball Club, Columbus, OH — 38 courts (indoor; billed at announcement as potentially the largest pickleball club in the world)
- Lefferson Park, Middletown, OH — 27 courts (outdoor, public — the biggest free-to-play complex in the region)
- Sawyer Point, Cincinnati, OH — 24 courts (outdoor, public)
- Arch Pickleball, Bridgeton, MO — 24 courts (indoor)
- The Pickle Lodge North Shore, West Chester, OH — 23 courts
- Pickleball Euphoria Springhurst, Louisville, KY — 23 courts
Two of the region's six biggest venues are public parks. The Midwest's pickleball boom is being built as much by city parks departments as by franchise money.
This is an indoor region now
56 of the 82 facilities are indoor-only and 12 more offer both — meaning 68 of 82 (83%) can host play in January. Only 14 are outdoor-only. In a region where winter runs October through April, the business model has already voted: the Midwest's growth is happening under roofs.
The chains are here, but local still leads
The national franchises have planted flags — The Picklr (9 locations), Pickleball Kingdom (5), Ace Pickleball Club (3), Chicken N Pickle (3), Dill Dinkers (2), PickleRage (2) — 24 of 82 facilities. The other 58 are independents, local operators, and public parks, including the region's two biggest public complexes and its largest single club. Louisville has the most facilities of any metro (4), followed by Naperville, IL and Cedar Rapids, IA (3 each).
What “verified” means — and why we count differently
Every facility in this report was checked against its own website or a directory, news, or tourism source; 28 of 82 are verified from the facility's own site. Court counts are recorded only where a source states them. And sources disagree more than you'd think: Lefferson Park's court count appears as 16 in a current tourism listing — the park actually has 27, confirmed locally. Pickleball's public record is sloppy. Counting it carefully is kind of the point of this place.
